Crush, currently

August was a big month at Crush, our Fashion Show at The Liberty Hotel was huge success, we sent Jessica off to Paris, began receiving fall shipments, and did some serious d.i.y. home improvement in the store.

Fashionably Late on August 20th was certainly the highlight of our summer. Runway models strutted Crush goodies around the lobby of the hotel, and inside Clink. Downstairs, we cozied up in the corner for an intimate trunk show in the Alibi Lounge. Laura and Rebecca were interviewed by NESN (we're still awaiting video footage) and we had the opportunity to mingle with friends, customers and Boston fashionistas while gushing over our new fall finds.

The same weekend we bid adieu to Jessica who'll be spending the semester in Paris, and yes... we're jealous.

Last night, we got around to a chore we've been looking forward to tackling: painting our sweet little underground space. The three of us, Laura, Rebecca, and Brianne, shut ourselves up in the store after hours, with pizza and some paint brushes. First step, the fitting rooms. A fresh coat of paint, and per Rebecca's inner domestic goddess, some plaster. Our masterpiece though is the shelving display at the back. Achieving a fresh coat of glossy black paint over our previously bright coral shelving was a bit of a challenge, but success was had and we spiced it up with some coral sponge painting around the frame. Nothing is as fun as a crafty evening with the Crush girls.

Getting Dolled Up for Fall: How Plaid, Zippers, Motorcycle Details and Menswear Blazers Make the Girl

The combination of masculine sounding, halloween imagery evoking, edgy title cuts can seem downright petrifying. Not since the Nineties have these trends undercut our feminimity, but upon their return, we've actually fallen for these old haunts.

In girlie cuts, almost preppy color schemes, luxe fabrics and with just enough frill everything seems to be our friend.

Plaid pieces from Gemma and Amanda Uprichard have us thinking SJP circa Footloose, with leggings and distressed cowboy boots.

When it comes to zipper details, LNA does it like no other. With zip front skirts and down the back t-shirts, these cotton and lycra pieces are effortlessly sexy, and can be summed up with one word: "cool."

Since that just isn't enough zipper for your entire wardrobe, we can depend on a leather Plastic Island Bomber jacket (not pictured), a clover Tracey Reese dress with exposed zipper down the back, and ever-reliable LA Made for fall pieces.

Come in to Crush or visit our online store for more edgy details for Autumn, we'll be here falling for these:

Be Fashionably Early for Fall at Fashionably Late!

Many of our favorite Crushettes have been raving since April about the Fashionably Late events at the Liberty Hotel. Designers, boutiques and specialty shops alike have gotten models all dolled up to strut their most exciting pieces down the runway at Clink.

The DJ starts at 9pm, and the show starts at 10pm.
Join us after the show for drinks and a trunk show at Alibi!

Gemma Top on E!

This sexy, tailored plaid silk blouse by Gemma was worn by Cat on E! this past week. Tucked into a tight black skirt, like this nylon zipper LNA number, it goes from office fashionista, to the Alibi Patio... or any other favorite summer hotspot!

InStyle Announces the new LBD: The Little Bright Dress; and Crush loves it.

InStyle Magazine's August 2009 issue discusses the new LBD: The Little Bright Dress, and like all fashionistas recovering from this summer's glum, dreary weather, we at Crush are swooning for the sun, and anything that evokes the same feeling. Enter: The Little Bright Dress. Seen on stars from Hilary Duff to Kate Hudson to Suri Cruise, bright colored mini dresses are taking Hollywood, and Main Street (or Charles Street) by storm. In super feminine cuts with smart details and often drapey fabrics, these fun pops of color are decorating runways, hangers and fashion savvy civilians alike.
At Crush, we've been drooling over Alexia Admor all summer; the line has brought us one splended cut after another, many in a variety of colors and patterns. The kelly green has a lush feel as it rocks an elegant, but forgiving fabric and we love love love the new pink plaid (you may have seen it in floral and solid pink), it fits like a glove and will easily crawl into fall with camel boots and a chunky brown cardigan. The pleats on that piece conceal any insecurities, while the hourglass shape, adorned with a skinny belt, defines the waistline. Plus both of these pieces, like many others this season, feature pockets, the new must have detail for party dresses that causes us to beg the question: why did it take designers so long to create the need for them, and where did we ever put our hands before when flirting?
